One day Jesus entered the gates of Heaven, He looked around and saw many happy smiling faces, suddenly he frowned, and the smile on His face froze. He called out, “Peter, what are these guys doing here? Did’nt I tell you to open the gates only for the good and deserving?”  Peter said, “Jesus, I do obey your instructions, don’t blame me, each time I shut the door your Mother opens a window.”

This, my friends, is the power of Prayer and interceding through our Blessed Mother is the icing on the cake.

You will recall the wedding feast at Cana, Mary said, “They have no wine.” Jesus, “My hour has not yet come.” Yet, Mary told the servants, “Do whatever He tells you.”  Then there was Wine. The first miracle Jesus performed after Mary’s intercession.

The last page of the Don Bosco’s Madonna has personal testimonies entitled “Mary was there.” Reciting the Memorare, devotions to the Three Hail Mary’s or wearing the Scapular have in more ways than one brought healing and sometimes miraculous results to ‘hopeless cases.’

It is no wonder  then that  a large number of Catholics and some people of other faiths, too devoutly observe novenas to the ‘Miraculous Medal,’  ‘Our Lady of the Mount,’ and to ‘Our Lady of Perpetual Succour’, to name a few.

Children, little or otherwise approach their moms when daddies are unavailable or unapproachable. Trusting with full confidence that Mom will make it happen and more often than not, the moms comply. This childlike trust in Mary our Mother is therefore very Special. ‘Can a Mother forget her baby?’, ‘Can a Mother forsake her child?

Mary is there with her arms outstretched, ready to concede our every wish, made in an act of faith. Mary wants to come to our aid. She is our Mother and Queen of Mercy. Her intercession for us in Heaven continues incessantly and her maternal charity cares more than ever, for her children. She is the one who knows all about our lives because she is Compassionate; she hurries to help us, praying for us to her beloved son, Jesus.

Who can ignore Mary’s prayer to God?

Blessed are we who live under such a Loving Mother who is so powerful.
