The Greek word ‘baptizo’ means “to plunge under, dip completely under, or immerse in water.. In submitting himself humbly to the baptism, Christ provided the example for the rest of us. He had no need of it, how much more should the rest of us be thankful for this sacrament, which frees us from the darkness of sin and incorporates us into the Church, and the life of Christ.
A good way to celebrate the feast is to establish an anniversary to recall our baptismal vows which is really an ancient custom of the first centuries Christians who were imbued with awe for that great Sacrament of Baptism. WOW ..wow …wow they said on this special day I became a member of the family of Christ.
